Thank you for visiting the website of the Livonia Michigan Chapter of the Compassionate Friends. We are a self-help group for bereaved parents, grandparents or siblings.

Whether your family has had a child die (at any age from any cause) or you are trying to help those who have gone through this life altering experience, The Compassionate Friends exists to provide friendship, understanding, and hope to those going through the natural grieving process.

Through a network of more than 650 chapters with locations in all 50 states, as well as Washington DC, Puerto Rico, and Guam, The Compassionate Friends has been supporting bereaved families after the death of a child for four decades.

At our meetings we share our experiences and have found that in doing so we do not feel so alone in our grief.  The sharing is up to the individual and you are not pressured to share, it is your choice. We encourage you to attend our meetings at least 3 or 4 times to see if they are helpful to you.

We have a sibling group at our monthly meetings. Age 16 and above are welcome to attend.

Our group also offers a Craft Group which meets on a Saturday every month where we gather to make a “craft” in memory of our child who has died. This item may be using a picture of our child or using a blanket or clothing from them. We encourage you to come even if you don’t feel crafty... we have found the gatherings are very healing whether you come to have a cup of coffee/chat or make a special item.
